Social and Affordable Housing Apprenticeship (Level 6)

Graduates will be equipped to operate ethically, collaboratively, and effectively within a dynamic and evolving housing sector environment, while supporting the delivery of housing solutions that are responsive to the needs of individuals, families, and communities.

Apprentices will be employed in organisations that require housing officers such as Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies.

Apprentices spend four days a week in the workplace and attend college one day per week.

The programme was developed by the City of Dublin ETB in partnership with the Social and Affordable Housing sector.

There are no course charges for the apprentice.

• Level: 6 – Further Education & Training

*Subject to  successful validation by QQI

Applicants must:

Hold a minimum of grade O6/H7 or above in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects or equivalent.

OR

Other relevant experience/employment (minimum 3 years), having reached the age of 19. Adjudicated on a case-by-case basis.

AND

Be eligible to work in Ireland for the duration of the apprenticeship and eligible to access FET programmes.

Employment with a SOLAS approved Local Authority or Approved Housing Body is also a requirement to join the apprenticeship programme

Applicants will then be contacted for a CV and other documentation to allow for screening for eligibility.

Applicants who meet the criteria will be called for college interview.

If an employer offers an applicant an apprenticeship, they are offered a place on the programme with a two-year apprenticeship contract, subject to successful QQI validation of the programme.

Places are awarded on a first come first serve basis

Learners who successfully complete the apprenticeship will be eligible to apply for Housing Officer roles in the Social and Affordable Housing sector.
