Personal Development Courses

An Introduction to Counselling aims to give the student an understanding of what exactly counselling is, how it works, and how it can help people, and is therefore an ideal start for anyone considering the NUI Maynooth one-year Certificate programme in counselling offered in September of this year.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €90 beginning on Tuesday 26 January 2010.
The course is on:

Assertiveness - is the art of clear, honest and direct communication which stems from a basis of good self-esteem, and involves equal respect for oneself and others. This course aims to equip the student with the skills of assertiveness in unison with developing his/her self-awareness and self-esteem.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €90 beginning the week of Monday 25 January 2010.
There is a choice of days:

  • Mondays from 6.30 to 8.30pm (Code No 60)
  • Tuesdays from 6.30 to 8.30pm (Code No 62)

Enrolment for Evening Courses

Personal Enrolment for Evening Courses is on:
Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 January 2010 from 6.00 to 7.30pm.
Cash, cheque, Credit Cards or Laser Cards may be used to pay fees on these evenings.

Enrolment is also possible on Monday to Friday, 3pm to 4pm during the week starting on Monday 18 January 2010. Payment at these times is only possible by cash or cheque (no credit cards).

Fee Waivers: A small fund is available to help those who have difficulty attending a course due to the course fees. Applications for fee waivers must be made to the Principal whose decision is final.

Fees are payable in advance and are not transferable to another student. Cheques should be made payable to City of Dublin VEC. Please write your name and address and current Banker's Card number on the back of the cheque.

Refund of Fees: No refund of fees can be made except where a course does not form.

Rules and Regulations: All enrolments are subject to the rules and regulations of CDVEC, a copy of which is available from the Principal. A copy is also on display in the College foyer.

Class Calendar: Evening Classes start the week beginning Monday 25 January 2010.

Mid-term: The College will be closed for mid-term from Monday 15 February to Friday 19 February 2010.
The College will be closed for
Easter from Monday 29 March to Friday 9 April 2010.
All dates are inclusive.

Parking: The road running through Herbert Park, which is a couple of minutes' walk from the College, has free parking from 6.30pm onwards. Before this time there is pay-and-display parking.

There is pay-and-display parking on Shelbourne Road up to 7pm on the opposite side of the road to the College. The College side is a clearway from 4pm to 7pm.

Always check on-street signage when parking, as it may be changed without notice.
