In recent years there has been an increase in the number of international events staged in Ireland.

It is no surprise to read about music festivals, major commercial exhibitions, international conferences and street festivals taking place all around the country.

The International Event Management sector has developed as more and more companies specialise in the organisation of these events.

This course offers students the opportunity to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare for careers in this specialised sector of the marketing industry.

The course also concentrates on developing skills in public relations, organisation, planning, IT (Information Technology) and time management.

A well-equipped modern language laboratory is available for students to develop their skills in a European language such as French or German.

This course provides a foundation in business, Internet communications and a language. It also gives a background in public relations and marketing and will provide students with the necessary knowledge and experience to work in this expanding business environment.

There is progression to Higher Education Institutions. For further information visit the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), the CAO and the websites of the particular Higher Education Institutions in Ireland. Candidates with a Distinction / Merit profile in their final results may advance to Year 2 of the Business Studies Degree in Swansea Institute of Higher Education, Wales by arrangement with the College.

Graduates may progress into Year 1 of the Institute of Public Administration's (IPA) part-time, NUI-accredited, Diploma in Business Studies or Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) and can also avail of additional subject exemptions.
