History of Art: Italian Masters from Corregio to Caravaggio This course is designed for those of you who would like to make the most of your time spent in galleries, churches or museums at home or abroad. This lecture course accompanied by slides covers the period from the late Renaissance to the early Baroque which begins and ends with these two masters.

Design your own Garden Have you ever looked at your garden wishing it could look different, yet not knowing where to start? This course will bring you through the steps you need to design your own garden, giving you the confidence needed to create a personal space for you which will give you joy for a long time to come.

Interior Design Our Interior Design course, which has been recommended by The Sunday Times, gives many ideas on colour, lighting, texture and materials to help transform your home. You will learn where to best use colours, how to understand lighting and plan your space. You will also be able to select your room style, gain storage ideas and much more. As well as theory, classes involve hands-on project work which may require a small extra charge for materials.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €120 beginning the week of Monday 25 January 2010.

Bridge for Beginners is for those who would like to be introduced to the basic principles of the game. Our tutor from the Bridge Association explains the rules of the game, as well as game strategies. The social aspect of Bridge is stressed.

Yoga - has proved to be so popular that, even with extra classes, it is still one of the first courses to book out. Hatha yoga combines physical exercises and relaxation. The practice of yoga leads to greater flexibility and calmness, as well as promoting overall health and well-being. Students are asked to bring their own mat.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €80 beginning the week of Monday 25 January 2010.

Creative Writing - The Creative Writing course explores creativity along with structuring and editing work. The focus will be on the essential ingredients of dramatic narrative: conflict, character, contrast, movement and theme. Short stories, novels, poetry, plays and film will be dealt with, as will comedy and children's writing. Participants will be encouraged to develop strong individual writing styles and to produce at least one completed work.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €60 beginning on Tuesday 26 January 2010.

Dressmaking The Dressmaking course (note the time) is one of the longest-established courses in the college. In this course, participants make an item of their own choice. Students may also choose to make items of soft furnishing such as cushions.

: Materials must be supplied by the student. The tutor will advise students on the most suitable materials during the first class.

Enrolment for Evening Courses

Personal Enrolment for Evening Courses is on:
Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 January 2010 from 6.00 to 7.30pm.
Cash, cheque, Credit Cards or Laser Cards may be used to pay fees on these evenings.

Enrolment is also possible on Monday to Friday, 3pm to 4pm during the week starting on Monday 18 January 2010. Payment at these times is only possible by cash or cheque (no credit cards).

Fee Waivers: A small fund is available to help those who have difficulty attending a course due to the course fees. Applications for fee waivers must be made to the Principal whose decision is final.

Fees are payable in advance and are not transferable to another student. Cheques should be made payable to City of Dublin VEC. Please write your name and address and current Banker's Card number on the back of the cheque.

Refund of Fees: No refund of fees can be made except where a course does not form.

Rules and Regulations: All enrolments are subject to the rules and regulations of CDVEC, a copy of which is available from the Principal. A copy is also on display in the College foyer.

Class Calendar: Evening Classes start the week beginning Monday 25 January 2010.

Mid-term: The College will be closed for mid-term from Monday 15 February to Friday 19 February 2010.
The College will be closed for Easter from Monday 29 March to Friday 9 April 2010.
All dates are inclusive.

Parking: The road running through Herbert Park, which is a couple of minutes' walk from the College, has free parking from 6.30pm onwards. Before this time there is pay-and-display parking.

There is pay-and-display parking on Shelbourne Road up to 7pm on the opposite side of the road to the College. The College side is a clearway from 4pm to 7pm.

Always check on-street signage when parking, as it may be changed without notice.
