Computers for Beginners The most basic computer courses, like Computers for Beginners, are for those with absolutely no previous knowledge.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €90 beginning on Monday 20 September 2010.
There is a choice of times:

Computers for Beginners - Continuation Learn to use the Internet more safely and to create a Webmail account. Edit Word documents and create a home budget tracker using Excel. Basic PC skills are required.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €110 beginning on Thursday 23 September 2010.
The course is on:

Practical Computing for the Older Adult This is a basic introductory course covering the following: e-mail and Internet, Facebook and other social networking sites, music files and MP3 players, digital cameras, mobile phones, Skype and other free Internet phone call methods, on-line banking, booking flights.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €110 beginning on Monday 20 September 2010.
The course is on:

Digital Photography for Beginners covers both the technical side of new digital photographic equipment and programs, as well as the fundamentals of photography: composition, selection of suitable subjects, lighting, etc. A hands-on approach, working closely with the tutor ensures that students have the opportunity to learn far more than if they were working alone with a manual. Students should bring their own camera to classes. It is essential that students have a good working knowledge of computers.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €90 beginning the week of Monday 20 September 2010.

Digital Photography - Continuation is for students who wish to build on what they have already learned on our Beginners Digital Photography course. It is also suitable for anyone who has mastered the basics of digital photography. Students should bring their own camera to classes. It is essential that students have a good working knowledge of computers.
The course runs for 10 Weeks at a cost of €90 beginning the week of Tuesday 21 September 2010.
There is a choice of days and times:

  • Tuesdays from 7.45 to 9.15pm (Code No 26)

ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence is an Information Technology certificate for all European citizens, consisting of seven modules, including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Internet, File Management and Computer Presentations. It is widely-known by employers and is a great addition to any CV. A good knowledge of Word Processing is essential.
The course runs for 20 Weeks at a cost of €550 beginning on Thursday 23 September 2010.

Photoshop - Creative Suite 4 This hands-on course enables students to explore the full range of possibilities that this digital image manipulation graphics programme allows, including editing or retouching photos. A working knowledge of digital photography is essential.

Enrolment for Evening Courses

Postal Bookings may be made from 1 June to 31 August 2010. Download the booking form (in Word doc format).
Cheques and postal orders may be used to pay by this method.

Personal Enrolment for Evening Courses is on:
Monday 6, Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 September 2010 from 6.00 - 7.30 p.m.
Cash, cheque, credit Card or Laser card may be used to pay fees on these evenings.

Enrolment will also take place in the main office Monday to Friday from 3 to 4pm, starting on Monday 13 September. Payment at these times is by cash or cheque only (no credit cards).

Fee Waivers: A small fund is available to help those who have difficulty attending a course due to the course fees. Applications for fee waivers must be made to the Principal whose decision is final.

Fees are payable in advance and are not transferable to another student. Cheques should be made payable to City of Dublin VEC. Please write your name and address and current Banker's Card number on the back of the cheque.

Refund of Fees: No refund of fees can be made except where a course does not form.

Rules and Regulations: All enrolments are subject to the rules and regulations of CDVEC, a copy of which is available from the Principal. A copy is also on display in the College foyer.

Class Calendar:
Evening Classes start the week beginning Monday 20 September 2010.

The College will be closed for Halloween during the week of Monday 25 October to Friday 29 October 2010.

Parking: The road running through Herbert Park, which is a couple of minutes' walk from the College, has free parking from 6.30pm onwards. Before this time there is pay-and-display parking. As of May 2010, some of the road has free parking from 2pm.

There is pay-and-display parking on Shelbourne Road up to 7pm on the opposite side of the road to the College. The College side is a clearway from 4pm to 7pm.

Always check on-street signage when parking, as it may be changed without notice.
