Course Description

This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the financial services industry.

Modules such as Funds Administration, Accounting, Business Law and Business Administration form the core of the course complemented by Information Technology modules.

Graduates of this course will be ideally suited to work in financial services institutions, accountancy firms, local government or the civil service, in addition to many other public and private sector organisations.

Graduates who successfully complete this course will have many options. The majority of students tend to seek direct employment with financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies or building societies. There are also increasing opportunities in local government employment.

This course provides students with excellent knowledge, skills and competence to secure a position in a junior administrative capacity in these or other business situations.

The course has an excellent work placement module and there is also the opportunity to continue to study in DIT and the other Higher Education Institutions in Ireland.

Candidates with a Distinction / Merit profile in their final results may advance to Year 2 of the Business Studies Degree in Swansea Institute of Higher Education, Wales by arrangement with the College.

Graduates may progress into Year 1 of the Institute of Public Administration's (IPA) part-time, NUI-accredited, Diploma in Business Studies or Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) and can also avail of additional subject exemptions.
